Layering and chunky knits were a major staple of this collection that definitely channeled the sort of ‘messy/chill, yet put together’ look that Charlotte Ronson’s young clientele loves so much. Skimming the first page of the program “military” pops out on almost every single line of the first 15 looks – a huge trend from last fall that Ronson seems to think will still be carried into 2011. This collection is what I would consider ‘heavy’ in the sense that I think wearing some of these pieces in warmer cities in the fall would be a bit much, but better suited for the transition into winter.  Wool coats galore, suede booties, waffle knit cardigans and tweed and twill jackets were commonly seen. I really enjoyed that she often paired these heavier pieces with lighter and more “west coast fall appropriate” pieces such as the russian blue silk print skirt from look 16. The most exciting thing about this collection was how wearable everything is. These are coats and sweaters that any girl could find a home for in her wardrobe without having to stretch very far to create outfits around. I loved the grandpa sweater coat from look 22 that would be an instant fit into my closet and I could wear over a miniskirt and ankle boots or leggings and over-the-knees. My favorite coat was in look 17 – the wool kremlin plaid cropped coat is the perfect mix of fall colors for me.

What is your take on the collection? I’m definitely curious to hear everyone’s opinions on the hole-y tights that she sent down the runway on so many models. Would you wear that trend? Look forward to hearing your thoughts!
