This past weekend was Lollapalooza here in Chicago – hands down one of my favorite weekends to live in the city! There’s great music, food and lots of laughs and of course, amazing style! I love seeing people experiment and step out of the box for the weekend. It’s a fun opportunity to wear things that you wouldn’t normally be able to, but over the years I’ve also found myself trying to find festival “appropriate” things that I can re-purpose in my everyday life.

I have a thing for vests and have found that they’re incredibly versatile for wearing with dresses, casual tops, or even rompers. I wanted to put together a little bit of a classier, but not uptight “Lolla” look without looking too grungy or flower-child-like (not my style). My recipe was simple – casual shorts and a breezy top (the weather is super unpredictable!) and a layer to add some dimension. My hair always ends up a mess at Lolla and so braids are always a great way to keep your hair out of your face while you’re dancing around Grant Park. You’ll be on your feet all day so I keep my sandals as flat as possible, but hey.. an inch makes a big difference when you want to see the stage!
