When I first moved to the East Coast I started seeing these Barbour jackets everywhere. I still remember our first fall trip out to Martha’s Vineyard and chatting with a friend who has had hers for years. I borrowed it from her when things got chilly (and per usual I was underprepared for the weather) and couldn’t believe how warm it was, especially since they’re a slimmer fit.
I like to add some color into my wardrobe during the fall and winter months with my outerwear. I have a thing for this beautiful, rich, wine/aubergine color and think it’s the perfect hue for a transitional jacket like this one. I love that I’ll be able to layer under this with cashmere sweaters as the temperatures drop and for the past few weeks have been able to wear it with long-sleeve shirts and lighter pieces.
We’re just a few weeks away from the city coming alive for the holidays and my parents will be visiting for the first year to see New York at Christmastime since I’ve lived here. There really is nothing like shopping 5th Avenue, a cozy and festive lunch, and stopping into the iconic Bloomingdale’s on 59th Street all lit up for the holiday season. I’ll be bringing my mom to the store (with MG and my Dad posted up at a bar passing on a few hours of shopping) and can’t wait to do a little Christmas shopping just the two of us. With the Holidays around the corner there are a few staples I look to Bloomingdale’s for when it comes to gifts you can’t go wrong with a coat like this one that will last season after season, cashmere for either him or her, or a great pair of boots (can we talk about this snakeskin pair?!).
What are some of your favorite ways to kick offf the holidays?
