Life lately has been busy. I feel like as soon as we get home and unpack and do a little laundry, I’m laying out my next set of clothes for the next weekend. The past two months have been full of travel and nonstop plans – but really isn’t that what summer is all about?
When we got back from Martha’s Vineyard for the 4th of July we had a surprise birthday party for a friend that was tons of fun and took us right into this weekend in Connecticut. I think I blinked and it was over and per usual lately feel like I could’ve relaxed even longer and that Sunday should’ve been Saturday.
Between apartment hunting, weddings, planning trips and pretty much everything lately it’s easy to get pulled into the whirlwind of things and let it consume you. One thing I promised myself at the beginning of the summer was that I would do my best to not look to far ahead and to enjoy the present as much as possible. Maybe it’s because I’m hitting a milestone age with my next birthday (or maybe it’s just plain aging) but looking back at myself in my early twenties I used to be much more anxious about change, uncertainty and open ended plans.
Perhaps it’s the age, but things that would’ve freaked me out or had me in a ball of anxiety don’t seem quite so scary lately and there’s a peace in knowing that everything will work out as it should. I’m going with the flow and trying to let go of feeling like everything needs to be perfect. At the end of the day we’ll figure it out and everything will be ok, you know?
Speaking of going with the flow, this might be my favorite outfit of the summer. Being on the go so much lately I’ve completely blanked on what I’ve worn to work on what days (I’m sure you’ve been there too!). I’ve quite possibly re-worn this skirt back to back days and definitely have done that with this easy off the shoulder top.
Fingers crossed on the apartment hunting this week and should have some exciting pre-sale picks for you at the end of this week from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale – my absolute favorite sale of the year. Stay tuned!
P.S. Love off the shoulder looks? Check out this chambray dress and this off the shoulder top.Â
