It’s hard to believe it, but November is knocking on the door and we’re about to enter the last 2 months of the year! It feels nearly impossible that this year could’ve gone by so quickly and that the holidays are already upon us. I’m sure you’re tired of hearing everyone talk about the weather, but it’s finally getting chilly in New York this week and I’m really excited to pull out sweaters and booties that I have been anxiously waiting to wear.
I’ve been eyeing this pair of booties for weeks and finally with the closet clean out that I did last week made room for them in my closet. It doesn’t much simpler than a pair of low, neutral booties but somehow in my sea of shoes I had managed to miss this staple.
Style for me these days is all about knowing yourself and what you’ll actually wear and what works for your body. I think back and laugh a bit at some of the trends I used to try in my early 20’s. These days you could call what I wear in the fall more “basic” but I’d like to think of it as just honed in.
This outfit is a perfect balance for me – this balloon sleeve blouse is a twist on a classic button down and the volume is actually a lot of fun. The rest is simple and pretty much what you’ll find me in most days in the fall.
I didn’t have anything in this light tan color and so when I saw these at Nordstrom I knew I would wear them nonstop. If you’re all set in the neutral bootie department you should definitely try the burgundy or the navy. I’m loving that pops of color are coming through more this year in shoes. In case you missed it I styled a pair of burgundy ankle booties with my favorite fall color palette recently.
When it comes to booties I know that I need a little heel. I tried on a pair of flat ankle booties the other day and with jeans on and it just looked like my legs disappeared into my shoes. Not cute, haha. I love this pair because they’re super comfortable and I barely feel like there’s a heel there. The Nordstrom site makes it really easy for me to shoe shop because you can actually filter down on shoe styles and trends. That’s exactly how I found these (searching for block heel versions in my size) and another pair I’ll be sharing next week. There’s nothing worse than getting something specific stuck in your head that you want and not being able to find it!
A pro tip – invest in some suede protectant. I use it on all of our shoes before wearing them!
I’m not a big Halloween fan, but this year I actually put together a costume I was really excited about. I’ll share details over on Pinterest later this week! I’m looking forward to having trick or treaters in our building come by and seeing all of the adorable little ones. Happy almost Halloween!
