Last week I had a rare weeknight at home and decided it was time to swap everything in my closet and clean out pieces that I knew were ready to be retired in anticipation of the arrival of fall. It’s always a bittersweet activity to move all of my summer pieces to the back of my closet, but I knew it was time.

The best part about doing that early on in the season is that it gave me a better picture of what I actually have that I still like/is in good condition for this year. After months of being out of sight I had completely forgotten about a few sweaters and some boots that were hidden in the back!

I’ve been looking for some new booties – last year I stocked up on basics with these suede booties in black and a pair of nude Vince booties that I wore regularly. This year I’m looking for some options that are a little more dressy and could work with dresses and skirts with a less casual vibe.

In particular there are 2 trends of booties that I really can’t get enough of right now:

VELVET

You guys, outside of suede fall & winter just scream for velvet in my opinion. It can easily give a simple look an elevated and sophisticated touch and create outfits on their own. I’m currently just torn between colors! Navy or deep red? What do you think?

POINTED TOE

I’m starting to pick up on my love for a pointed toe bootie. In particular I’m loving these options with a little bit of a higher ankle to wear with a denim skirt or a fall dress.
