I know, I know. Summer is almost over and Labor Day is here, which means that everyone will be putting away their white pants and white dresses. I’ve never been one to believe in that rule and still don’t today.
I have to admit that my interest in white dresses has been heightened by all of the bridal activities coming up (!!!) and for the first time I’m actually indulging in how many cute little white dresses there are.
Even if you’re not a bride-to-be and take my word for it – there are so many cute versions that will soon be on sale and are totally worth scooping up and saving for next spring/summer. If you’re like me and don’t enjoy waiting to wear new clothes don’t put that white dress in the back of your closet just yet.
Today I’m going to share 3 ways that you can make it work going into the fall (and with some corresponding pieces you’ll be dying to pick up!):
1. Add a jacket and booties
I love the transitional time between summer and fall when you can throw on a jacket and still bare some leg. I love this suede jacket or the idea of throwing on an oversized blazer with a pair of statement booties. This tortoise pair would be a great substitute for a neutral and I love this suede pair in rust – I have a feeling you’ll be seeing a lot of this color this season!
2. A long cardigan and over the knee boots
Another way to transform a LWD for fall is to add a cozy cardigan for some texture (and warmth). I tend to have a lot of neutral versions, but I also love having a burgundy option on hand and am loving this ribbed chenille version. I think over the knee boots are a fall staple especially for those of you who love to change it up from wearing denim the whole season. You can pair this Tory Burch pair with a long cardigan and your little white dress and no one will even realize you are wearing a summer piece.
3. Turtleneck underneath and booties
Last but not least, I’m a big fan of the idea of wearing a turtleneck with your summer dresses to transition them into cooler days and nights. You can grab a turtleneck like this one for a simple black and white look or this printed version and a pair of nude booties and a suede moto jacket for a boho twist.
