New York Magazine, The Cut
OH. MY. GOSH.
My dear friend that I met at NYFW texted me today and informed me that I’m not only on New York Magazine’s blog “The Cut” (which is infamous I might add and a daily read for anyone and everyone in fashion), but I’m in today’s 22 MOST STYLISH PEOPLE OF FASHION WEEK. Umm…. what? BE STILL MY HEART.. oh wait… it just stopped beating. As I drop everything and start clicking through the site, I am first greeted by Karolina Kurkova (you know, one of the top supermodels in the world. NBD.), Amy Astley (editor of Teen Vogue), and then in the 5th picture of the post I see myself smiling back at Craig Arend, photographer of altamira: modelsoffduty.com who shot this photo of me outside of MAC and Milk studios. Wow, this cannot be real.
Freaking out is the understatement of the year for this one. When Craig took my photo I was first and foremost just flattered he even wanted my picture since he photographs the likes of Chanel Iman, Karlie Kloss, Karolina Kurkova, and the top models in the world on a regular basis. He casually mentioned that he was photographing for New York Magazine and I honestly didn’t think the picture would see the light of day. It was ridiculously cold and windy (notice the hair) and I was just honored that he even considered me a worthy subject of his lense. I continued to click through the company that I was in, and noticed Emmanuelle Alt (the new editor in chief of French Vogue), more models, Eglantina Zingg (I met her in September here), Jennifer Dixon (editor of In Style Germany), and top bloggers Keiko Lynn and Kristin Knox. I cannot even tell you how crazy it is to have been considered one of the most stylish people at Fashion Week and in the company of such incredibly fashionable people. After having been there for 6 days, I saw some of the most gorgeous ensembles and creative outfit ideas you’ll ever see – everyone pulls out all of the stops for Fashion Week.
My outfit was inspired by my current love for sheer anything and short sleeve sweaters. What looks like a skirt is actually a slip from Free People with the most beautiful detail and velvet touches on the shoulder straps. It’s a bit chilly in New York for a strappy slip dress, so I spent a good deal of time trying to figure out how I was going to wear it and came up with the idea of layering this textured cream cardigan from Topshop over it. My shoes are black suede platforms from Aldo that successfully fit the bill of comfort & height without having to look like every other blogger wearing Jeffrey Campbell Lita’s or Jessica Simpson Dany’s. I accessorized with a bag from Topshop, Marc by Marc Jacobs watch, my tiger bangle, lizard ring and bee earrings from (my obsession with animal inspired jewelry continues).
To be featured in a post like this and on NY Mag’s The Cut is absolutely amazing. I’m so thankful that they considered me in this post! I can definitely say that this tops the list of the most unbelievable things that have happened to me this Fashion Week (which after sitting front row at Jenny Packham on Monday among other craziness I would’ve said was impossible). The highlight of my entire career blogging thus far!
Much gratitude and love,
