With the unofficial kickoff to summer behind us I’m ready to embrace long days, cold cocktails, and patio season! I don’t know about you but post Memorial Day, I flip the switch and am in summer mode in all aspects until Labor Day (and then some). I finally started pulling out my summer dresses this last week and was so excited for the first hotter day in a while to wear this little black dress.
Summer in the city can be tough when it really heats up, so having something flowy and breathable is necessary. I consider this the “goes with everythingâ€Â dress – the kind that you can slip on and accessorize 100 different ways and wear over and over again. In the summer I’m all over the place – whether it’s going straight from work to happy hours, meeting friends for drinks, or strolling through the Seaport and then grabbing a bite with MG, my plans are always coming together at the spur of the moment. It’s so much fun, but also means that I need to sometimes dress for the day knowing it can take me into the night.
I fell in love with this simple black dress for summer and the crochet detail and tiny pom pom hem. After years and years of summer clothes, I know the value of a cute black dress that is easy to style. You can make this dress extra summery by pairing it with a floppy hat and sandals, or dress it up with a pair of heels and a clutch.
One of my favorite post-work activities is to head down to the Seaport once we’re both home and walk around until we’re hungry and then sit down for dinner at one of our favorite spots. Walking along the water and seeing the Brooklyn Bridge at night is a luxury that we don’t take for granted, and with gorgeous weather we try to take advantage as often as possible. I threw on my denim jacket when I got chilly and this became the perfect day to date night ensemble.
What summer plans do you have on your radar?
