Are You A Jeans Person?

striped blouse, rag and bone jeans

You’re running late and have 15 minutes to get dressed and be out the door. What do you put on?

My answer 9 times out of 10 is a pair of jeans. I realized the other day looking at a few friends’ Instagram accounts that they’re what I would call “dress” girls. They find ways to wear dresses in their day to day more frequently and I rarely see them in jeans.

I remember the first pair of jeans that I finally invested in. They were 7 For All Mankind and hugged my early 20’s body just right. Fast forward and now I’ve tried just about every brand of denim under the sun. I have my all time favorites including this pair of white jeans from Rag & Bone – they were my first pair of R&B’s and when I put them on the felt like butter. I have since invested in a few more as staples in my closet.

But as a single working girl I couldn’t always afford designer denim if I wanted to try something more trendy or current. I remember 5 years ago when colored jeans were everything – I had a rainbow of denim in my closet and it was then that I discovered how much I love Free People. These high rise skinny jeans are only $78 and come in 7 different colors and washes. They fit pretty true to size / a little snug and are a great bargain buy.

Another great affordable brand for denim is Blank NYC. These distressed jeans are adorable on (as long as you’re tall enough!) and also run you under $100. I also have 2 pairs of jeans from Zara that I’ve had for years – their Traufalic line is great for petites and they usually have a decent amount of stretch.

But why jeans? Why not jeans. When you find a great pair it’s such an easy base to any outfit. I love dressing them up with heels and a cute top like this one and they’re one of the only things you can truly wear year-round, making that investment in a nicer pair worth it.

When it comes to taking care of them read the labels carefully. I always wash mine inside out and usually in cold water and hang dry them only putting them in the dryer for a few minutes to give them a better shape.
