Today I want to chat about boots that are worth the $$$.
I’ve had this blog for years now, and if you’ve been around for a while you know that I don’t typically spend a ton of money on one piece. I just got this bag earlier this year sort of as a birthday present to myself (but also with some help from a friend in the industry) and that was a bit out of the ordinary for me. As a previously single gal living in New York City on a shoestring budget that just wasn’t possible.
I’ve seen girls post time and time again about the Stuart Weitzman over the knee boots (Thighland, Highland, Lowland, you name it) and how they were totally worth the money spent on them. I just couldn’t bring myself to actually spend that much on a pair of boots – I’m sure there are plenty of you that will agree. I previously would wear mine for going out, in the snow, at bars and just (ew), and the idea that I would spend the upwards of $800 on something that would definitely get trashed just didn’t sit well with me.
In the past year so much has changed! Outside of settling into our first apartment together and getting engaged, we just have had a huge shift in our lifestyle. I take better care of my things now that we have a closet that can actually fit everything and I also realized that quality > quantity is where I am with my wardrobe.
Over the summer during one of the Shopbop sales I was patiently waiting to see if one of the SW boots came in my size while I could get them 20% off + use some gift certificate money I had from a few returns. They finally did and I purchased them immediately! I told my co-workers who I always debrief purchases with and they were so excited to hear how they worked for me. They came a few days later, I put them on… and I was so disappointed. They were extremely tight and on me basically a thigh high boot. They also didn’t have a zipper so I couldn’t fathom how I would really get them on and off. Once again a #shortleg fail and I immediately put them back in the box and was anxious to get my money back and look for something else.
I saw this pair of boots when I was scrolling through one day and was intrigued. They didn’t look nearly as high but were still “over the knee” and they had a nice chunky heel for walking and a zipper on the side. I figured why not try them to see if they were a better fit for me and hopefully let me put my drink stained pair that was 3 years old to rest.
I was so happily surprised when they arrived and I first put them on! They’re slimming and sophisticated, but also a bit more classic. I think I’ll end up wearing them longer and I bought a suede protectant to ensure that I could keep them looking nice (as you do with investment pieces). The zipper makes life so much easier and in the end it was the perfect pair for me. They also come in a shorter version called the ‘Alljack’ that is 1″ shorter than the pair that I’m wearing.
As we start getting closer to the Holidays, these are also a perfect gift to consider for your lady if she has been looking for a beautiful pair as well. Speaking of, can you believe that Thanksgiving is just a few short weeks away?

I just watched your “I am Second Videoâ€. Thank you sooo much for sharing your story. We adopted our son from Russia in ‘98, then I had a surprise pregnancy and had our second son, now at age 48 (my husband 50) we are in the process of adopting my great niece who just turned one. Mow That I’ve found your website I find that I also love your style. Can you tell me where you bought the ruffle sweater? The link didn’t work. God Bless!!! <3
Love the look! So cute.
