This summer I just can’t get enough of sunflower yellow. Whether it’s the main piece in your outfit or a way to bring a pop of color to your neutrals and essentials, it’s the color of the season in my book.

Our summer has been off to a crazy busy start – we were in North Carolina for a wedding followed by a week in Sun Valley (more to come on that front soon) and have been spending most of our free time balancing our own wedding planning and trying to soak up the occasional nice weather here in the city.

It’s been unseasonably cool here compared to the last 4 summers we’ve seen and we’ve had a ton of rain. I wish that we could collect and overnight it all to the West Coast to help with the droughts and wildfires – mother nature sure has a mind of her own, doesn’t she? I’ve actually had to reach for jackets and sweaters and also my jeans more than most years that I can remember.

This summer I’ll be celebrating 4 years in New York–I can hardly believe it! Back when I first moved here I became familiar with Talbots and will always remember that one of my favorite casual looks was shot with them right before I met MG. If you’ve been following me for any amount of time you know that I love jeans. You also probably know that it’s always been a struggle for me to find some that not only fit me well, but require little to no tailoring.

Talbots recently launched a new collection of denim that speaks to all shapes and silhouettes. If you’re a bootleg girl – they’ve got you. If you like slim fit, cropped jeans (like me) there’s something for you, too! I can count on one hand how many times I’ve ever put on a pair of jeans and they fit perfectly – this pair is on that list. They have a little bit of stretch with a narrow fit from the knee to the hem giving any other petites a well proportioned look for your height.

I paired mine with a white denim jacket (a new staple in my layering collection) and this easy sunflower yellow top with a pair of classic slip-on mules. I’m looking forward to mixing and matching these pieces with other wardrobe staples!

I can’t believe it’s almost August – what has been the highlight of your summer so far?
