My girlfriends from home and I all live all over the country, and as you may know life gets crazy and it can be really hard to keep up with the little things we’re all doing. Over the holidays we had a great time picking up where we left off and had a funny little conversation about working out. I realized that I have such different habits from them and thought it would be fun to hear what you guys do! I’m always looking for inspiration and new ideas. I’ve also resigned to get back into the swing of things as soon as the weather at least reaches positive digits. So this post is as much to inspire me as it is you!
I think workout gear has the same affect on a person that your daily outfit does – it really can make or break your attitude! If you’re in a rut, make coffee at the office for the week and buy yourself a new sports bra or workout top.. heck even a new pair of neon socks. The littlest things can encourage you to put on those workout clothes and get your butt in gear!
You may not know this (I forget sometimes myself) but I played soccer in college and pretty much my entire life. Translation: I ran around chasing a ball for a majority of my life in the sweltering heat. When I stopped playing soccer I had a serious reality check. I had to figure it out and going from being a full time athlete to a working, busy bee is tough!
I have found the best balance and so much enjoyment out of going to heated/fusion classes, barre, or combo classes. I like that it’s easier to get a good sweat in (and it also helps exfoliate your skin in the dead of winter). Here are some of my favorite workouts and what I love about them!

Core Power Yoga — Yoga Sculpt Class // the perfect combination of heat, stretching and light weights to boost your metabolism and tone your whole body
Core Power Yoga — C2 Hot Fusion //Â if I’m feeling sore or extremely tight from my desk job, I will go to this class for deep stretching and it’s still a tiring full body workout
Bikram Yoga //Â these days I don’t usually have time to do Bikram because it’s 90 minutes, but if I can on the weekend I’ll go.. there’s nothing quite like it — you feel cleansed and rejuvenated from head to toe
Nike Training Center iPhone workouts // there are plenty of nights (especially in the winter) where I can’t travel across town or make it in time for a class, so I do combinations of the 15 and 30 minute workouts on the NTC app at home in my living room — even 15 minutes makes a huge difference in how I feel (Cardio Burst and Ab Blast are my favorite quick combo)
Pure Barre //Â this workout is unlike any other, and I’ve taken tons of Barre and Yoga classes.. I saw instant results and it’s the only non-heated class I absolutely love! There is a new Pure Barre – Old Town location for you Chicago-ans looking to try it out (look for my friend Jackie, she’s an instructor!)
Barre Bee Fit — Barre Burn //Â this high energy, intense class will make you sweat and extremely sore the next day but it’s a great all around workout and there’s heart pumping music to keep you focused

Thanks to the Nike Training Club in Chicago, I can finally track my daily activity (or lack thereof at my desk) via my Fuelband. I will say that I was so impressed with the band and love having a sense of accountability for myself. It’s so easy to get bogged down with the whirlwind of life and forget to take care of your body – after all you only have one! If you didn’t see, this Spring you’ll see Fitbit x Tory Burch hitting the shelves and Nike came out with a rose gold version of the fuelband too. These little devices are becoming more and more stylish and it’s easy to incorporate them into your wardrobe – my friend Erin of Color Me Styled wrote a great article on this!
